Roses

The purpose of the FBMG rose garden is foremost to educate members and the public about the use and beauty of old garden roses and modern roses that act like OGR's. Old garden roses have existed with very little or no care in cemeteries and abandoned homesteads throughout the years. In the average yard they can provide beauty and stability with minimal care and water usage once established. We strive to have as many different varieties, shapes, classifications, etc. as possible and to have all roses labeled. We also plan on adding companion plants to show how possible it is to have 'a garden with roses' instead of just a plain 'rose garden'. This should encourage others to incorporate some roses in their home plantings.

On Saturday, February 7th 2009 there was a hands-on rose pruning clinic in the rose garden as shown in this photo. We accomplished the annual pruning and will try to change the photos as the seasons progress.
