Twist-leaf yucca is endemic to the Edwards Plateau, growing primarily in its southeastern area. It favors both rocky limestone hillsides and grassy flats. Its narrow, undulate, olive-green leaves twist as they age; the leaf margins can be yellow, orange or red, with minute sharp teeth. Twist leaf yucca will grow in sun or partial shade, and is useful for planting on problem sites such as rocky slopes or sites with poor dry soil over rock. Rupicola means "lover of rock."
